MISEDASHI

OIL ON CANVAS

97 X 162 cm

This work depicts three female figures inspired by geisha iconography, arranged in a tripartite composition that structures different modes of presence. Variations in body orientation and gaze establish a visual rhythm based on restraint and distance.
The whiteness of the faces acts as a symbolic mask, erasing individuality in favor of a constructed neutrality. It refers to the control of the body and expression, inscribing the figures in a codified space where appearance prevails over interiority.
The richly ornamented kimonos concentrate the symbolic weight of the work. The red evokes passion and social constraint, while the greens and floral motifs suggest an idealized and cyclical nature. The dark background isolates the figures and reinforces their ritualistic dimension.
The work thus questions the construction of femininity through inherited cultural and visual codes, where the body becomes a support for signs rather than a place of individual expression.
