ERASURE
OIL ON CANVAS
46 X 55 cm

This artwork depicts an elegant woman whose presence is gradually absorbed by a dense and proliferating environment, a metaphor for the collective gaze and social pressure. The saturated setting, with its motifs of eyes, evokes the accumulation of norms, expectations, and projections imposed on the female body.
While the face remains visible, the body dissolves into ornamentation, reflecting a loss of centrality of the subject in favor of its social image. The heavy gaze averted from the figure suggests not a choice, but a constraint: that of withdrawing in the face of excessive visibility. This effacement is neither voluntary nor liberating; it is the result of a burden imposed by society.
The work thus questions the mechanisms by which women, exposed to the gaze, see their identity gradually dissolved, until they become surfaces of projection rather than recognized subjects.

These works are part of a contemporary figurative painting practice intended for galleries, cultural institutions, and art collectors.
