THE BIRTH
Figurative painting, oil on canvas
With The birth, the artist explores the founding moment of transition—the point at which the body emerges and enters conscious existence. The female figure, depicted from behind, stands within a mineral and aqueous space, inscribed in a slow movement of appearance.
The nude body is not offered to the gaze but presented as a body in the process of becoming, still connected to the matter that carried it. The fluid substance surrounding and extending the figure evokes primordial waters and the memory of the womb, dissolving the boundary between the living and the elemental.
The painterly treatment sets up a tension between the softness of flesh and the density of the ground, carved and almost telluric. Birth is not portrayed as a spectacular eruption, but as a silent process, rooted in slowness and transformation.
Through the choice of a turned back, the figure becomes archetypal. Naissance does not refer to an individual story but to a universal experience: entry into the world, separation, and access to consciousness. This work is part of a contemporary figurative painting practice intended for galleries, cultural institutions, and art collectors.
