THE LADY OF THE LAKE
Oil on canvas
89 X 116 cm
ARTWORKS
The female figure is captured in a moment of immersion, at the precise point where the body tips over.
Partially submerged, it is neither fully contained nor yet released.
Crossed arms mark a brief, instinctive gesture, the one that precedes the transformation.
Water, treated as a substance in continuous motion, envelops the figure and isolates it from the world.
It acts as a passageway, a transitional environment. The body enters it to unravel, without yet being reborn. The lowered face places the scene in an inner, almost suspended time. This is not a lasting state, but a unique, irreversible moment. The one where the old dissolves before the new is visible.
The artwork captures this fragile, barely perceptible moment: where immersion becomes a promise of rebirth.
Bathing is neither purification nor refuge,
but the threshold of a new beginning.
